This rare 1890's style "Schlitz On Draught" Beer Sign has been hanging in my parents basement for over 25 years. I would give it an 8 for condition on a scale of 1 to 10.The minor things that are wrong with it are easily correctable.The sign itself is rock solid no cracks of anykind.Some of the paint isn't as bright as other areas.Also t are a few craters that a barely noticeable on the pictures,But you could easily fill these in and paint over.I.m hesitant to make any improvements because I don't want to alter its original appearance until I know for sure its ok.It looks great just the way it is !! Remember it was made to look old. The pictures of outdoor overhead Tavern Signs I've seen in history books are made with a series of verticle planks with the name of the Saloon on the sign.I'm not sure when Breweries names were added and then eventually took over completly.Possibly the Tied House may have initiated this. The original steel U shaped hanging bracket (not shown) is included with the sign.The Gold and Red colors still shine brightly.The pictures fail to capture the depth and beauty of this sign. When you see it in real life you will absolutely love it !! If you plan on hanging it outside.A coat or 2 of clear Polyurethane or it's equivalent would protect it from the weather and after 10 years you will still have one of read more
