Beautiful *Baltimore Rose* Sterling Piece A couple of weeks ago I auctioned off a gorgeous piece of Baltimore Rose by Schofield. Having received several inquires from ebayers wanting to know if I had any additional pieces by Schofield, I have decided to part with another similar item. At first glance it appears to be identical however upon closer inspection it is slightly different in pattern placement and details on the curled handle. T is also an additional stamp on the bottom rim that says "Balto Rose". Thanks to the helpful ebayers, the general consensus is that this item it is not a master salt but rather a piece that could used with a small spoon for olives, grated cheese, nuts or relish. For those of you who are not familiar with Schofield it was a silver company that was originally established in Baltimore, Maryland in 1871 by Jacobi and Jenkins and bought by Schofield Company in 1915. In 1967 Schofield was purchased by the Stieff Company (who also bought Samuel Kirk and Sons) and eventually became the Kirk Stieff Company.Baltimore Rose is an exquisite pattern with an intricately detailed hand chased repousse style. This sterling piece is a great example. It measures 4âe wide and 3½âe tall. It is very heavy for its size weighing over 4.75 oz which is slightly heavier than the first one I acutioned.
