SCHOOL OF ROBERT HENRI (1865-1929) Oil Painting SIGNED Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album You are viewing a painting signed by Robert Henri (1865-1929). I am not sure if the painting was painted by the artist, so I am selling the painting as "school of Henri". It is an oil painting on canvas laid down on board. From the style, I would estimate that it was painted some time in the 1920s. I have owned the painting for about 4 years and am ready to sell her. I have shown it to various people some of whom feel it is by Henri, others who feel it is not by Henri. I have passed a black light over the painting and t is no difference between the signature (which is in the upper left corner) and the rest of the painting. Other features of interest include the number '929' scratched on the back of the board. Henri was a leading member of the "Ashcan" School and is known to have taught many pupils. It is possible that this was painted by one of them. The model for the portrait is a redhead which is significant as Henri's wives were both redheads as were many of his models. The board measures approximately 20" x 15" and I think that regardless of who painted it, it is a lovely painting. The condition of the painting is generally good with some wear and paint loss on the edges and corners; missing pieces of the board backing and evidence of water damage to the board. Please view the images. Overall minor wear and tear from time. Shipping will be $25 insured within the U.S.A. Please view my feedbacks and bid with confidence.
