This is an original Schuco Examico 4001 wind-up tin toy made In Germany between 1939 and 1941. This ingenious car has an "H" pattern gear shift on the dashboard with 4 forward speeds, neutral and reverse. There is a clutch on the driver's side. The shifting works remarkably smoothly in all gears. The rack-and-pinion steering works well as does the hand-brake. All paint is original. No re-paint or touch-ups. There is typical play wear, paint chips, small dents, and patina. All systems work great. The wind up spring is strong and works well. The tires are round but old, of course. The windshield is a quality replacement, as is the wind-up key. Please look carefully at the high-definition photos. They are the best explanation of the little car's appearance. I welcome any questions and will provide additional photos if requested. This is a no-reserve auction with a reasonable Buy-It-Now price. This classic Pre-War fully-functional Schuco Examico 4001 would make a great addition to your Schuco or Tin Toy collection.
