Hey folks! I'm back! Apologies for my eBay hiatus.Anyway. Here is the one-and-only Schwinn-Built Heavyweights 1946 - 1964 book. These are a limited edition hand-numbered publication, limited to 426 copies and we're currently under #230. If you've been looking for the best reference book for Schwinn's Heavyweight line, then you've just found it. At last count this book was over 200 pages, but I'll be darned if I can remember the exact count. It's paperback, 8.5" x 11" with a proper paperback binding, just like the kind you find in the bookstore. Anyway, these are real books, no spiral-bound stuff here. And the cover! Check out that cover! It's an M. Mathey original with the Panther image re-appropriated from the 1950 dealer catalog. It's real purdy!Here's what's inside: - Schwinn's 26" models are covered chronologically, and every model is included. Scans from original catalogs and ads and promotional materials are used. Autocycle to Wasp, and everything in between. Covers how the different models evolved (or as was often the case, devolved) and how models were equipped in different years. This section alone it like cramming 10 years of experience (10 years of expensive learning-from-your-mistakes experience) into your head.- Schwinn's 24" and 20" models and the 16" model are covered and discussed. Again, with scans from original catalogs. Know what you're doing with the little bikes, because, dang, some of them are worth much more than their 26" counterparts.- Goodrich-badged Schwinns are covered, including the differences in equipment on some of the early models. Lots of great scans here. Goodrich sold tons of re-badged Schwinns, lots of great info here.- Whizzers and CycleTrucks and Tandems are also covered. Oh man, you'll practically have to hold your eyes in your head so they don't pop out. Given, not all Whizzers were Schwinns, but it's lots of great eye candy, and if you're a collector, I bet your eye has a sweet tooth.- Frig! There's also about 40 pages of Parts Info and Tech. This stuff covers racks and forks and locking forks and lights and chains and rings hubs and seats and badges and grips and tires. Info that will make it easier to know what you're doing, easier to get your old bikes in tip-top riding shape, easier to enjoy the hobby. There's also a few pages of unsolicited advice on restoration and refurbishment. Plus a serial number guide.- But wait! There's more! At the end of the book there's also like 40+ select scanned pages of parts and accessories from various catalogs. With exploded hubs! And some parts numbers! And the prices! Oh, you'll just cry at how cheap this stuff used to be. You'll find things you never knew you always needed.- Don't forget the back cover! For the advanced collectors of B6s and such, as well as the folks who just like to know what's rare and what isn't, there's a full color chart of all the B6 colors, some of which were only available at special request at a slight extra charge. Plus you get to see what color combos the straightbars came in. Plus you get (at no extra charge) a handsome bar-code. And every book is hand numbered, because, hey, why not?To re-cap: This book was written with the goal of being the best reference book for Schwinn Heavyweights ever assembled. It's awesome. It will help you to identify clean originals and avoid mis-represented frankenbikes. Reading this book is like loading your brain gun full of knowledge bullets. It was written with the goal of increasing the fun parts of the hobby and to decrease the frustrating bits.
