This is a clearly used, rather weathered Huret-made Schwinn Sting-Ray speedometer, the perfect finishing touch for your Sting-Ray or Krate. I had this one sitting around for a while, as its cosmetic condition is very rough, but I finally decided to just give it a complete cleaning and rebuild anyway, since there's probably someone out there with a daily-rider Sting-Ray or Krate who would like to add a speedometer without having to worry about it getting rained on. This one is in full working order, freshly lubricated, polished, waxed and reassembled, turning freely and ready to go.

The speedometer head is 2 3/8" wide, 2¼" high and 1 5/8" deep. It has a polished chrome rim, glass face, and chrome housing, with white numbers on a black dial, and light orange pointer coloring. The finish is nowhere near perfect: It shows speckling and pitting on all sides (see photos 3, 4 & 5), but all chrome has been polished to restore the shine, and then waxed to keep it that way. The original carriage screw and nut were missing, so I have added new replacements. A couple of digits on the odometer have faded away, especially the bottom half of the left-most zero in the display, as well as the tenths digits 0 and 1 (the right-hand reel of the odometer), though all the rest are fine. (See photo 7) There is no accumulated mileage; it's just approaching 0000. 1.
