Up for auction is a flow blue dinner plate. The pattern is called 'SCINDE" and was made by J & G Alcock, ca 1840. The plate outer rim is gently scalloped and is slightly panaled. The rim is outlined with scrolls enclosing a diaper pattern. The border is printed with trhee groups of styalized dahlias seperater br brances of prunus blossoms.The center scene is dominated by a figure at a little left of center wearing a hat and carrying a large banner over his shoulder. The foreground contains a lake and rocks and a tall prunus tree that grows through an arch.The reverse is marked under glaze with words "Oriental Stone J&G Alcock" are incised under glaze. While the patttern name is not present t pattern is unmistakable.The overall condition of the plate is very good with with no cracks. T is crazing on both the top and reverse surfaces. T are some small glaze chips on the outer edge (see photo) that measure about 1/16" in length.The plate measures 10 3/8" in diameter.Successful bidder to pay shipping based on 3 lbs. from Zip Code 06001, insurance will be additional.
