Scott’s flagship tuner offered at the height of their golden era during 1963 & 1964. It is actually a 5th generation progression of the original 310 tuner that began production 10 years prior. Retrospectively the 310E is viewed as one of the top tube tuners ever created, sonically rivaling and surpassing its high profile competition from the same era, the Marantz 10b, the McIntosh MR-71, & the Fisher FM-1000. Its original selling price of $300.00 in 1963 was steep, just under 3-weeks wages for the average American, yet it was still considerably less expensive then its competition. While the 10b, FM-1000 & MR-71 are fabulous tuners, the 310E really gives them all a run for their money. Its edge comes from the fact that its design is a direct descendent from the Scott 4310 professional broadcast tuner, which was used by the top radio stations worldwide.
