Rare and beautiful "HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY" Officer's 17-1/2"dress dirk mounted with real Cairngorm stones dated between 1902 to 1910. The 11-1/2" blade front is fully engraved (Not an acid dye) with 30 Regimental Battle Honors from "Carnatic" to "Modder River" and "South Africa 1899-1902". The back side is engraved with the Edwardian Crown, Infantry horn with HLI, The Order of the Thistle, "Assaye", an elephant, the monogram ER VII (King Edward VII reigned from 1902 to 1910.) and thistles. The handle is basket weave African Blackwood studded with gilt nails. The top has a thistle design gilt metal holding a large Cairngorm stone about 1 3/4" across.T is a slight old flaw inside the stone but is barely noticable without really looking. The handles on the knife and fork are the same design as the dirk handle only in miniature and they lock into place. The scabbard is leather covered with gilt fixings. On the top fixing is a silver regimental crest baring a gilt crown, HLI, elephant and the banner with "ASSAYE" This is truly a rare gem and I have personally never seen one with such engraving. It would be a proud exhibit in any collection or museum. Ship Worldwide. Shipping/Handling and Insurance included in price. Serious bidders only.
