Charity scout fundraiser These will be ideal for armed forces day or Remembrance Day Please send a message if you require more then 5 I can offer patrol , section and group discounts this is a project funded by myself i am a scout leader from north london from the 2nd Enfield scouts. the plan is profits from the sale of these badges will be spilt to the poppy appeal and the 2nd Enfield scouts towards their trip to Belguim where we will take them to the Menin Gate and they can lay a wreath on behalf of all those scouts who have served and payed the ultimate sacrifice so those scouts can carry on what they do. we are not a miltary organisation . but the scouts history is based on military teachings from lord Lord Robert Baden Powell the founder was a soldier . he had a great belief in peace . in 1907 he to 20 young lads to Brownsea Island in Poole which sparked the movement of them 3 died in the great war 2LT M.C.Wroughton, 12 Royal Lancers, died 30 Oct.19142LT W.F.Rodney, Rifle Brigade (att. to Royal Flying Corps), died 9 May 19152LT Marc A.P. Both the bronze badge and the cloth emblem of the same design may be worn.John 'Jack' Travers Cornwell, a Scout in the St. Mary’s Mission Group, Manor Park, London, entered the Royal Navy in 1915. It was wartime and training was brief, but Jack, helped by his days in Scouting, was able to adapt quickly.On 31 May 1916 while serving in HMS Chester, Jack was struck by a shell splinter. Grievously wounded, he stayed at his post awaiting orders until he was relieved at the end of the battle. On reaching port, Jack was transferred to a hospital in Grimsby and three days later he died a national hero.For gallantry he was given both the Victoria Cross and the highest Scouting award, the Bronze Cross. To commemorate the courage shown by Jack, The Scout Association created ‘The Cornwell Scout Badge’ in his memory.When we visit Ypres we also see the grave of this scout leader Rupert Price Hallowes Rupert Price Hallowes (1881-1915) was born in Redhill, Surrey, the son of Frederick Blackwood and Mary Ann Taylor Hallowes. Educated at Haileybury College, he later worked for Harold Flower of Gracechurch Street in the City of London. In 1900 Hallowes joined the 20th Middlesex (Artists) Volunteer Rifle Corps. He was commissioned in this unit, re-named the 28th (County of London) Battalion The London Regiment (Artists Rifles) in 1908, on 26 October 1909.Hallowes resigned his commission in April the following year when he moved to Wales to work for Robert Byass and Co. He was appointed assistant manager of the Mansel Tinplate Works in Aberavon, Port Talbot, where his elder brother William Brabazon Hallowes was the manager.
