You are bidding on a Scroll Map made of a cloth material. This map is extremely old and rare. It was found at an estate sale. The map title is " A CHRONOLOGICAL CHART of Ancient, Modern and Biblical History". The map also says it was syncronized by Hon. Sebastian C. Adams with Maps of the World's Great Empires, Drawn by Prof. J.A. Paine PH.D. Archaeologist of the First Expedition of the Palestine Exploration Society. Fifth Edition - Twenty seventh thousand. Critically Revised and Enlarged and brought down to A.D. 1883. COLBY & CO. Publishers, 5 Union Square New York. This map appears to be in good condition. It is at least 21 feet long and 28 inches tall. The map is made of cloth material and is on two wooden scrolls that are fully functional and operate without any difficulties. Below is the best description I could find on the internet. It was provided by the Americana AE Exchange and the price is for the hard back book version. Year Printed 1884 Selling Price USD 750 Description This chronological chart traces the history of all world empires, leaders, major historical persons and events, beginning in 4004 B.C., with Adam and Eve, and going until 1883, with the last panel showing Principal Sovereigns of the World, President of the United States (the last being Chester Arthur), and Eminent Men Elsew not Elsew Mentioned on the Chart. In the intervening 5800 years, the chart shows maps drawn by J. A. Paine, Archaeologist of the First Expedition of the Palestine Exploration Society. Maps include Settlements and Races of Noah's Descendents, Ancient Egypt, Conquests of Alexander the Great, Solomon's Empire, the Roman Empire, Europe in the 16th century, and the United States of America, among others. Maps are shown at front few panels. Following maps is the flow-chart of civilizations. Each cviilization is given a line that is traced throughout the entirety of the chart. Civilizations followed are: Biblical, Phoenician, Egyptian, Chaldean, Chinese, Greece (including individual empires like Ilium, Troy, Sparta, etc.), Babylonian, Assyrian, Palestinian (Israeli), Italian (up to the founding of the Roman Empire, Carthage, Latium, Alba Longa, as well as after), and eventually separating out Italty from Papal Rome, Asia Minor, Bithynia, Syria, Britain (including the individual kingdoms of Wales, Saxony, Brittany, Wessex, Kent, Northumbria, Ireland, Essex, Sussex), eventually forming the England, Scotland, France, Germany, Scandanavia, Spain, the Ottoman Empire, Indian and Hindostan, Poland, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Austria, Holland and other, more minor kingdoms. Chronologically, the chart lists each ruler, by name and number of years they ruled. In many cases, it also lists major achievements, nature of their personality, and means by which they died. These flow charts occupy the largest and middle section of the chart. Along the top, are depictions of major events according to the corresponding period shown below. For example, the building of Solomon's Temple, the destruction of Jerusalem, the Alexandrian Library, the crucifixation of Jesus, the Battle of Tours, the Tower of Pisa, the inventions of glasses, gunpowder, the discovery of tobacco, William Tell, John Milton, William Shakespeare, Johann Guttenberg and the printing press, Joan of Arc, Gallileo, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin and others.
