Cypreidae, Cypraea pantherina, Panther Cowrie Shell - approx size 72.7 mm long, 43.3 mm wide and 36.5 mm high, (and 49 grams) TOP quality, no damage.Member of the Cypreidae Family of Gastropod Molluscs, Lightfoot, 1786.Obtained from a private collection - this shell was found under a rock in shallow 3/4 meter) water on 08 September 1986 inside the inner reef on the East Side of the Red Sea.This species is similar to the Cypraea Tigris (Linnaeus 1758) BUT endemic to the Red Sea.Shell is in TOP condition, as found after the animal had been removed -- it has been kept "boxed", out of natural light since it was found.I will be listing a large number of sea shells from many parts of the world, many different species (several listed now).Postage & Packing for these small fragile and delicate items may seem a bit high - prices quoted are based on being well packed and being posted as a First Class Small parcel.
