Seaboard Air Line Railway Tail or Caboose Lamp One pair of Armspear Model 28A caboose lamps, appears complete and original. Blue and clear lens. The lamps were used by Seaboard Railroad on the caboose. This item is sold as is, please view the photo for condition, no returns. Marked Armspear Mfg. New York .Railroad lamps are distinguished from lanterns by both function and design. Lamps were generally intended to be stationary, were generally made of a sheet metal or cast metal body, and used lenses to amplify light from an interior light source. In response to a number of inquires regarding these lamps, I found the following information in the 1933 Armspear Lamp Catalog Bulletin # 25. Unified Oil Burning Lamp Model # 244358. Marker for oil or electric source of illumination. The markets listed are for electric and not oil. The markers were made by Armspear and listed in the above catalog in 1933 /library/pgCat_Arms1933.php#note Recent information indicated the lamps are Seaboard Engine Classification Lamps because they have green and clear lens.
