Original Fumio Fujita (1933 - ) Fuji Arts sosaku-hanga offerings- Tonight we are pleased to offer a group of 20th century prints from the sosaku-hanga movement. Following the rebirth of Japanese woodblock prints in the shin-hanga period, a new group of artists began to rethink Japanese prints with an eye towards the West and the modernization of Japan. These artists produced designs in a more overtly modern style, sometimes abstract, and incorporating themes of life in modern Japan. For many, these fantastic designs represent the modern Japan that came to life after the war. The sosaku-hanga prints are a terrific collecting area. They are also a good investment as the prints are still affordable due to their relative newness. But, they are singed and numbered in small additions making each design rare. Fumio Fujita (1933 - ); A modern woodblock print artist born in Japan in 1933. Fujita was a student at the Musashino College of Fine Arts. Fujita's prints tend towards nature subjects with many designs of variations of birch trees- a signature Fujita design. His prints are usually in an attractive color palette of beautiful contrasts without being too bold. Fujita's prints are all pencil signed and numbered limited editions, look for that information in our auctions of his works. Fujita's works are becoming increasing collectable especially some of his earlier designs and his works are thought to be a good area of investment by many dealers in Japan.
