SEARS 8 TRACK PLAYER RECORDER REFURBISHED EXCELLENT! Up for bid, a completely refurbished and trouble free 8 track recorder. The starting price reflect many hours of labor. Do not let the name fool you, Sear’s had these recorders made under contract to a large Japanese electronics company and it is an excellent machine. This unit features FAST FORWARD, AUTO STOP on any of the four programs, and auto tape counter reset. I have completely gone through it. The entire transport mechanism has been disassembled, cleaned, and lubed. Program change mechanism is working great and is freshly greased. The Flywheel / Capstan assembly was removed, cleaned and lubed. The belts are all in excellent condition including the tape counter belt. I cleaned and demagnetized the heads. I have been working on tape machines about 40 years now, so I know how to do it properly without lubing the wrong part with too much oil or grease I have to admit I have not hear one of these in a long time and was really surprised at the sound quality which is similar to an open real machine. I recorded several tapes and the results were much better than a prerecorded tape and similar to an open reel machine in dynamics and S/N ratio.
