This bound wartime publication chronicles the major battles and engagements fought by the First Armored Division, in Normandy, Belgium and the Rhine Campaign. Nicknamed "Old Ironsides" this celebrated heavy armored division was deactivated after the Persian Gulf War in 1995. During its 238 battle days in WWII overseas campaigns, the Second Armored Division suffered 7,348 battle casualties. Two members of the First Armored Division were awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery in action with the enemy, and 2,302 of its soldiers were awarded the Silver Star. This wartime unit history publication contains 36 pages and contains seven articles relating to the 2nd Armored Division in Europe, plus a list of German Units it fought against in the course of WWII. The cover makes specific reference to two battalions within the division: the 702nd Tank Destroyer Battalion and the 195th Anti-Aircraft Battalion. Perhaps most significantly, however, the book contains an impressive page of Autographs containing the names and addresses of 29 Greatest Generation veterans of the 2nd Armored Division along with their home addresses. This page is illustrated in one of my photo images. There is a name which is printed on the inside back cover which is "Zenchak", ostensibly the original owner of the book.
