In the 1978 movie The Deer Hunter four of the main characters: Michael (played by Robert DeNiro), Stan, Nick, and Axel, are hunting in the mountains near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Serbian-built Mausers proved to be exceptionally high quality weapons and were used extensively by the Serbian Army from the 1890s well into the last half of the twentieth century.
