Serial no. 32984 [frame], 133065 [triggerguard], and 71013 [133869], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with slandard maker and address markings. Bottom of barrel marked with deformed K stamp at breech. L. Draper inspector mark above serial number on bottom of frame. Back of cylinder with R.A.C. stamp. Hammer recess in frame with O inspector stamp. Standard U.S. marking on left side of frame. Blue finish. Case-hardened hammer and frame. Butt with K inspector stamp. Oil-finished walnut grips with traces of cartouche on right grip. Top of right grip stamped with numeral 5. Upper part of left grip stamped with three indistinct numerals [accompanying notes cite 958,]. Butt of both grips with R.A.C. inspector stamps. Sold together with Colt factory letter confirming configuration and documenting sale to U.S. Government and delivery to U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt Plant on December 23, 1876 in a shipment of 300 firearms. Letter also states gun was returned to factory for cleaning and repairing; barrel cut to 5 1/2-inches. It was then shipped to the Springfield Armory on February 24, 1903. Also included is a research and analysis letter from noted Colt historian John A. Kopec. 10000 - 15000
