Serial no. 37, .44-40 caliber, 26-inch round barrel with German silver blade-type front sight and elevation rear sight. Blued finish. Left side of frame with Rampant Colt emblem. Lower tang stamped: S.F.P. 37. Case-hardened hammer. Fire-blued trigger. Varnished walnut stocks. Crescent butt. Sold together with factory letter stating that this rifle was one of 400 Colt Lightning slide action rifles ordered by the San Francisco Police Department in June, 1898. They were marked with the letters S.F.P. [San Francisco Police] and numbered 1-400. Letter has a typed addendum added stating that serial no. 37 was purchased by Thomas J. Dickson on February 28, 1969. 4000 - 6000
