Serial nos. 120550 [frame]; 93558 [triggerguard]; 115067 [buttstrap], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with P and D.F.C. stamps at breech. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer and frame. Fire-blued trigger. Left side of frame with standard U.S. markings. Back of cylinder stamped R.A.C. Hammer recess in frame with G inspector stamp. Triggerguard and butt stamped G. One-piece walnut grips, the right side dated 1903 and retaining slight traces of inspector`s cartouche. Butt of both grips with R.A.C. proof stamps. Contained in modern associated glass-topped Colt walnut display case. Sold together with Colt factory letter confirming configuration and documenting sale to U.S. Government and delivery to U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt Plant on March 8, 1887 in a shipment of 450 firearms. A note at bottom of letter stating this revolver was returned to the factory for cleaning and repairing, the barrel being shortened at that time to 5 1/2-inche and subsequently reshipped to the Commanding Officer of the Springfield Armory on April 17, 1903. 20000 - 30000
