Serial nos. 66555 [frame]; 94860/G [triggerguard]; 46437 [butt], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with small P on bottom and Hartford address. Case-hardened hammer and civilian, non-U.S. marked frame. Letter S stamped under hammer on frame. Back of cylinder with R.A.C. stamp. Top of gripstrap stamped HN. One-piece walnut grips with RAC inspector`s cartouche on right grip together with an inlaid white metal five-pointed star and small diamond. Butt of both grips with R.A.C. inspector marks. Sold together with Colt factory letter stating revolver was shipped to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts, United States Government, February 13, 1903 in a shipment of 150 revolvers. Letter also states that records show that this gun was returned to the factory to have worn parts replaced, exterior refinished and re-assembled without attention to matching parts. Also included is a detailed authentication letter from Colt historian John A. Kopec in which he explains the existence of non-U.S. marked artillery model Colt single actions such as this example. He deems this one authentic in all manner except the obvious addition of the silver inlays added by the original owner. 10000 - 15000
