A really fabulous and original collection of antique studded leather horse brass straps and bridle pieces dating from the latter part of the C19th The large pair pictured centrally both carry the Selkirk saddlers makers' name, P Johnstone on the large brass plated lead bosses I did a very quick google and found reference to a C19th blacksmith of that name living in Selkirk which is really satisfying These straps are a true pair with large oval studs and lovely brass buckles and bridle bits The smaller outer pair have had some losses over the years - between the two of them they are missing a sun stud, a small stud and a heart strap end - they still both have a hand forged buckle, a brass ring and a bridle ring in common Good aged original leather in all straps, I hope these find a brass collector or local historian Long strap as shown measures 13" long (33cm) Shorter straps measure 10.75" (27cm) long Happy to send worldwide and offer postal discount where possible, please get in touch for destination specific postal quotation
