These are beautiful Boxes hand carved in India. They are completely carved by hand from Himalayan Jungle Sheesham wood, one at a time, one Indian carver producing about three pieces per day, a useful, beautiful decorative box. this box is very ornate and it is vintage. I estimate their age from the late 1950's. There is a crack that runs across the top of one of the boxes, but there is no danger that it will come apart. It is just age. It does not take away from the ornate beauty of the box. The boxes is carved on 5 different sides and they are flowers and leaves, they is beautiful. In the center on the top is a inlaid white design that looks like a tree made from diamond shapes. When you open the boxes, you see that the blue cloth has been sewn in, not glued in. A sure sign of good craftsmanship. They are also trimmed with wood around the cloth. These boxes are something you don't run across everday. The hallmark and story is still attached to the bottom of the one so you know they are genuine Himalayan Jungle hand carved boxes. Thank you for stopping. I hope you will consider this to add to your collection.
