SET OF 2 MORGAN SILVER DOLLARS 1879 S & 1879 P CIRCULATED IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION 90% SILVER This set is part of my father's collection and it has been in a lockbox for last 40 years in a cloth bag. He has no desire to continue to keep his collection due to his age and health. He also believes a lockbox is no where to leave these coins for any additional time and would rather have someone enjoy them. This is a nice set, but they are worn. The best way I feel I can describe these coins is to separate them by sides. The obverse sides are in good condition as the faces are smoothed, the area is blackened, while the letters and stars are in good shape. Now with the reverses, I believe they are in really fine condition. While blackened with the top of the wings being smooth, the remaining areas are pretty distinct and clear. Please refer to the pictures to confirm my descriptions. I am not a professional and prefer that you look at the coins and make your own judgment. The Morgan Silver Dollars were minted from 1878 to 1904, then again in 1921. According to my research, the Morgan's were nicknamed the "King of America's Coins". They were considered large, heavy, handsome, and historic; and prized mementos of the 19th century of the U.S.A. The Morgan's were minted when the nation was still young and full of adventure every day. A time when gunslingers, railroad tycoons, cattle barons, riverboat gamblers, and dancehall girls were a part of these daily adventures. Electronic money and checkbooks were not yet known so these fine dollars showed wealth and power . This set, while worn, can stand out on it's own; not to mention a plethora of other uses, such as, Halloween treats, Stocking Stuffers, Easter egg fillers, Tooth Fairy gifts, starting a coin collection, or adding to a collection, to name a few options.
