Up for auction is a set of two vintage oriental/asian lanterns. Unfortunately I am not too knowledgeable about lanterns, so I will simply describe them as best as I can. Both are made of wood and stained in a dark cherry finish, with a very high gloss. They have red tassles, and plastic green ornaments (the disks have a detailed decoration on them). The material on them is made of both a silky material and a raised velvety material (the red decoration is the velvety part, see pics). The pictures on the silky material are hand painted, they are of various boating scenes, mountians, waterfalls etc. The material is in exellent condition, with no stains or rips/tears etc. The only faults that I can find is that the wood is chipped at the top of one of the lanterns (you can easily see this in one of the pics), please note that this does not affect the way it hangs, it hangs beautifly. Also, two of the plastic green balls on one of the tassles is cracked, and one is missing one half (you can see both in the pics). These faults are not visible unless you are specifically looking for them, they display magnificently... they really do stand out in any room. Note that these are not electric and have no wiring (they were never wired). They both easily fold flat for storage. I'm not sure of exactly when these were made. I know for sure that they are at LEAST about 30 years old, they are probably older, but the woman who gave them to me told me that she had them for 30 years, and they were given to her (not new). These would be beautiful for any asian inspired room. Item is being sold AS IS. They measure 13 inches high and 14 inches at the widest point. (Measurements do not include tassles.) They have been on display at my home, a smoke and animal free enviornment. I am not sure of how to price these, so bidding starts at 1 cent. =) Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks!
