A great set of four antique brass or bronze plated cast iron and glass ball and claw feet typically used to terminate the cabriole style legs of many furniture pieces around the turn of the 19th century. Each furniture leg ornamental end consists of an eagle claw cast in iron and plated with bronze, or possibly brass, and wrapped around a purple glass ball which is approximately 3 inches in diameter. Ball and claw together are about 6.5" tall and a little over 4" wide. The bronze plated cast iron in these leg ends have a few rusty spots and t, but look great and if restored would be magnificent. The top of these furniture leg ends is hollow to allow for the insertion of the table leg and have a hole near the top to screw the base to the wooden leg. Unknown age and origin but comes from a collection of items at the Ancho Museum, Lincoln County, NM. The museum, called "My House of Old Things," was founded by members of a family who moved to New Mexico from Texas in 1912, the year New Mexico became a state. Every item is worth exactly what someone is willing to bid for it. Successful bidder in this auction to pay actual shipping costs plus $2.00 handling plus insurance if desired.
