A nice set of four Chinese 'Canton' export porcelain plates, decorated in blue and white, 19th century/c. 1800 description: On offer is this attractive set of four Chinese porcelain plates, hand painted under glaze in blue and white. The plates show a central design of a river landscape with pagodas. The borders of the plates are painted with a blue cable rim. The plates have a plain white backside and are unmarked. This matching set of plates display very nicely, but show traces of use and include some imperfections. One plate is perfect. One plate has a short rim hairline. The third plate has three rim hairlines, with some associated chipping. The fourth plate was broken, glued and neatly repaired. Please view the pictures, which give a good impression of the quality and the condition of the objects.These plates were made in China in the early 19th century / c. 1800. The blue color and the pattern, which were used for the decoration, indicates that they were produced in the Qianlong (Kien Lung, Chien Lung) taste. This type of Chinese export porcelain is usually called 'Canton' ware. From the 16th century onwards many Chinese products were exported to Europe.
