A fantastic set of 4 Duncan Phyfe style klismos chairs, mahogany wood c. 1850, perhaps earlier. These chairs came out of a New York family estate and could possibly have come from the workshop of Phyfe. The finish has a warm patina, but seems to be an old but not original finish. I had the original horsehair seats and the springs re-worked so that the seats appear even and are very comfortable to sit on. The chairs are tight, none of them are shakey. and the mahogany wood on the back rest and serpentine seat front is simply stunning. This style of chair has beautiful lines when viewed from any vantage point. Dimensions are 32" high x 17 1/2" wide x 18" deep, seat is 18" high, with seat cushion roughly 15" x 15". These chairs are very comfortable to sit in, support your back and seat extremelly well, and the upholstery has a soft feel. I used a geometric cotton chinelle. A wonderful and stylish set of chairs, the serpentine shape to the seat fronts add so much to this klismos style chair. This is a stunningly fantastic set of 19th c. period chairs. You pay shipper who will take this chair from my door to yours so you pay the actual shipping costs, no add-ons from the seller.
