Set of six Sterling serving spoons. Made by Alvin around 1890. Each is marked "Sterling" with the Alvin mark -- the letter "A," a swan, and a cresent-like figure on the back. Each bears the monogram "A" on the front in script font. Total weight for the set is 12.6 oz.
Only one of these spoons is in excellent condition, the second spoon would be considered in fine condition, though t is slight wear at the tip of its bowl. The other four spoons have been used, and two of them not so gently. Tips are in good shape, but the bowls contain dents. Pictures are an accurate representation of the condition of the spoons. Someone with more silver expertise could work out some of the dents. The most remarkable characteristic is the incubus/devil face representation on each spoon. The face almost sneers at you. While appropriate for the dining room, I would hesitate before displaying these in a child's bedroom. Alvin Silver was bought out by Gorham in 1928, and renamed the Alvin Corporation. These spoons predate that period. Buyer agrees to pay $6 in domestic shipping. Happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases. PayPal preferred.
