Up for auction is a beautiful set of 9 Danbury Mint Great American Sailing Ships Plate Collection. Each plate has a different American Sailing Ship on it. On the back of each plate it says: A Limited Edition Made Exclusively by The Rosenthal Group for the Danbury Mint. classic Rose Collection Germany. Great American Sailing Ships and then the name of the ship. The plates are 8 1/2" in diameter. As you can hopefully see by the pictures, the plates are absolutly gorgeous. They are trimmed in goldtone. They are all in excellent condition and have been very well taken care of. These plates were found in my Grandfather's Attic, so I know they were taken care of. T are 3 plates missing from the series, which I am still trying to find. The 9 ships are:1. Lightning 3. Sea Witch 4. Charles W. Morgan. 5. Bon Homme Richard 6. Flying Cloud 7. Allred 8. Roanoke 9. Constituti Also included is an album with a reference card which tells about each ship. On the other side of the card, is the actual receipt of the plate, with the original price that was paid. The plates that are missing are numbers 4,5 and 6. The first plate was purchased back in September of 1977, which would make this series over 30 years old. This series is worth well over $300.00.
