This is a complete matching set (fuchi, kashira, tsuba, kozuka with kogatana, and menuki), featuring a "bats and crescent moon" theme. Early to mid edo period pieces, for katana or wakizashi. It is made entirely of yamagane ("mountain metal"), which is nearly 100% pure copper, but has some trace impurities, affecting its color just a bit (all except the menuki and the inlay on each piece, that is). In excellent condition. 3 of the pieces are signed. Fuchi/ kashira were made together as a pair and signed "Shoami Morikiyo". Tsuba is signed by the same craftsman, "Iyo Shoami Morikiyo Kao". The kogatana is signed "Oumi no Mori Minamoto no Kuni Tomoe". All of the pieces are 100% guaranteed to be authentic as described, and are exactly as per photos. Beautifully detailed shishiai-bori of bat on fuchi and tsuba, and great suemon brass inlay of moon on kashira and tsuba. Dimensions are as follows.....tsuba:7cm x 6cm x 0.5cm, fuchi 3.8 x 2.2 x 1.5, kashira 3.5 x 1.8 x 1. Check out other similar or related items in my e-bay store. $20 shipping to the continental U.S. (insurance is included). All others, please inquire. takayamablack at gmail. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns....... I just received the matching kozuka for this set, and includes the signed kogatana as well. I adjusted the price accordingly......... And, finally, the menuki are , so the set is now complete. (I think they may be gold. I initially assumed brass, but they are VERY soft. I'll have to examine them more closely and ask a few people to be sure. I'll update the listing if I find out for sure).
