Offered for your consideration is a SET of (6) Queen Anne "Pewter" Appetizer/Dessert Plates By Carson If you look at each of the pictures below you will notice that these plates have a smooth matte finish with minimal usage marks . Each one measures ~7"at its widest point, and weighs approximately 1/2 lb. I am sure that they will make a great addition to your collection and will be perfect for serving hot or cold appetizers because of that inntly wonderful quality of heat and cold retention! When you are serving Swedish meatballs from your Wilton or Carson Tureen this holiday season, serve them in style by using these charming little dishes! They would also work especially well with chilled shrimp cocktail! T is no doubt that y ou will be adding a touch of class to your gathering by presenting your hot or cold hor deurves on these impressive "Pewter" plates! They'd also make outstanding dessert dishes with the same results. Hot apple pie or chilled lemon meringue would look great in these dishes! And what a perfect presentation for a fruit garnished New York Cheesecake! In addition, you can use these as under- plates for the bowls in your collection; or even combine them with other Queen Anne pieces and use them for salad or bread. One of the demonstration pictures (below) shows how well these particular plates "work" with the plain little Wilton bowls that I am presently selling in another auction. Notice how they "dress them up" very nicely for dessert purposes. But they would work just as well if you used them to hold a soup or chowder bowl. While genuine Pewter is beautiful to behold, it is not practical in any kitchen. It is a soft metal that would actually melt in your oven! For that reason and the possibility of lead contamination, old pewter should never be recommended for anything other than for display purposes. However : Premiere Metal ware manufacturers like Wilton, Carson, and York came up with a way of creating a metal alloy that has the old world look and "feel" of Pewter, but is much more durable and useful! You can cook in these products and you can serve from these products while being assured that your food is safe! Like Wilton , Carson produces nice heavy pieces that will be of service to you while they also complement your Rustic, Primitive, or Colonial Decor.
