~~~~~~~~~~ This is a wonderful old Seth Thomas ships clock! It looks fantastic inside and out, and it runs and chimes perfectly! ~~~ Over the years the Seth Thomas Company has sold many of their popular and reliable "Helmsman" and "Corsair" ships clocks. However, the Seven Jewel Ships Bell was the top of their line of ships clocks. It was developed and manufactured to compete more favorably with the popular Chelsea Clock Co. products. And with its solid cast brass case and reliable 115 A movement, it did very well! This is a very high quality instrument in 100% original condition! ~~~ When mounted on the mahogany brass trimed base the clock is 10 1/2" wide, and 8 1/2" high. The case is 3 1/2" deep, and the dial is 4" in diameter. The silvered dial is protected by a heavy hinged bezel. The dial is in wonderful condition with only very light wear at the winding arbors. The heavy brass case, and all of the brass trim has been polished to a high gloss. T are no cracks or serious damage, but t are dents and marks on the brass which should be expected on an older clock. T is also a dent on the brass on the left front corner of the base. The 4th picture was an attempt to show the dent, but it is not very noticeable. ~~~ The heavy Seth 115A movement runs very quietly keeping good time, and its strike train sounds the ships bells at each half-hour. At the top rear of the movement is the patent date, -- Oct. 25, 1921. Adjustments to the movement should be anticipated after shipment. A non-original key will be included for winding the clock. ~~~ This beauty would make a wonderful gift for your favorite sailor or a great addition to your homes decor!
