You are bidding on a beautiful Seth Thomas "MILTON" model mantel clock. For some reason this clock is not listed in the TRAN DUY LY book, but is clearly stamped on the bottom of the clock which model this clock is. I will try to be as descriptive on this clock as I can, so PLEASE, if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me and I will get back to you A.S.A.P. The measurments of the case is as follows; 18 1/4" long by 11 1/4" high by 6 1/2" wide. The case has been through a thorough cleaning with a non abrasive cleaner to rid the YEARS of dirt and grime that has accumulated. T is NO spray paint, or laquer on this case. Just a beautiful shine it once had when it was new. The only paint on this case is touch up paint from very minute chips the clock of adamantine that was missing. T are some small dings on the clock, and some very light scratches, that are not that noticeable, unless you were to look for them. This is common for a clock that is over 102 years old. This DOES NOT take away from the beauty of this clock. Remember, this is an antique. To not have any imperfections at all, would mean that this is not a true antique. T is a date on the bottom of the clock. It reads 5091K. So this would date this clock November of 1905, placing it at 102 years old. The ornate peices on the clock have also went through a vigorous non- abrasive cleaning to get rid of the dirt and grime that has accumulated through the years. T is no paint or copper leafing on the ornaments. They have been polished up to its original shine. The bezel on the clock has also been cleaned to rid the dirt and grime from many years. The bezel was sprayed with a coat of laquer to keep the brass from tarnishing. The paper dial is the original that came on the clock. The original dial is in great shape, minus a few stains, so t was no need to replace it. The movement in the clock is also the original Seth Thomas 4 1/2 movement. This type movement is just like the 89C movements which have proven many years to be an excellent movement for the Seth Thomas mantle clocks. This movement has been completely taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, and rebushed, (6 to be exact), w they were needed. The pivots were polished, and the pinions were polished as well. The main springs were checked and are in excellent shape. The movement was then put back together, then reoiled with clock oil. I have had this movement running for several weeks now, and it is keeping excellent time. This movement will last many years to come with proper maintenance of the movement. The movement should be oiled at least once every year to keep it going strong. The hammer for the gong has been replaced with fresh new leather. The clock strikes a cathedral like gong sound, and counts the hour. When on the half hour, it strikes once on the bell. You will also receive a reproduction of the original key and the pendulum that came with the clock. You will have to wind the clock upon arrival. You will also have to adjust the clock to get the right time again. It will come unadjusted due to the handeling of the clock, be it from the Post Office, or UPS. This should take very little time to adjust. A set of directions will be sent along with the clock to help you get the clock going once again. As I said I have tried to be as descriptive as I could. LOOK at the pictures, and you decide. If you have ANY questions, feel free to e-mail, and I will get back to you A.S.A.P. THANKS FOR LOOKING, AND GOOD LUCK. A note for international winners; The shipping cost listed is for the lower 48 states of America only. If you should win, an exact shipping cost will be e-mailed to you. The average clock and packaging weighs roughly 25 pounds. You ask why so heavy, we make a special metal box for each clock we ship. We then package it in a cardboard box and packing material. We feel like this is the safest way to ship a clock, and it is very hard to crush metal than cardboard. So far we have had very good success with this type of shi...
