Offered for bid from my collection is this museum quality gorgeous SETH THOMAS "GREEK". This is part of the "City Series" of Seth Thomas clocks. I have owned this clock for 16 years and purchased it from a discriminating collector of Seth Thomas clocks. T comes a time when we collectors must pass on to someone else the enjoyment of something that we have long treasured. The clock stands a full 24 inches. It is 13 1/2 inches wide at the base and is 5 3/4 inches deep. The hand-painted dial bares the S.T. logo. The label, though darkend with age, is complete and legible. The lyre movement is stamped with the S.T. logo and signed Thomaston, Conn. The clock strikes on a deep cathedral gong. T is no veneer missing. The glass appears to be all original as the band which holds it in place shows no evidence of tampering. The original key is included which locks the door with a side lock. T is one hole in the backboard of the case indicating that apparently the clock was wall-hung or secured to the wall at one time. However, t are no extra holes near the movement as the movement is original to the case. The finish is untouched. This is truly a museum quality piece (c. 1888) which I have maintained in perfect running order. You will also notice that the stop works are even in place. I will let the pictures speak for the clock. Payment is read more
