~~~~~~~~~~ This is the Seth Thomas "Helmsman" ships clock mounted on a beautiful solid mahogany and brass trimmed base. ~~~ The brass case, ring, and the spokes are very clean, highly polished and in very good condition. No dents scratches or scars anyw! The brushed silver dial is very clean and in fantastic condition! Whoever wound this clock over the years was very careful not to scratch the dial! The cast brass bezel unscrews for winding and setting the clock. It too is in beautiful condition. ~~~ The 8-day movement is clean and bright and runs strongly keeping good time. It is not know when it was last serviced. The chime strikes the correct ships bells each half-hour, and repeats the series every four hours. A non-original key will be included. Adjustments to the movement should be expected after shipment. ~~~ The mahogany base is 10 1/2" wide, and the clock itself is 9" from spoke tip to spoke tip. The dial is 4" in diameter. ~~~ The base, like the brass clock, is also in near perfect condition! The wood is unmarked anyw, front or back, and the brushed brass foot plate highlights and sets off the clock nicely. On the underside of the base is a label that identifies it as a Seth Thomas Helmsman Base. You will be very proud of this set, it is probably the nicest used unrestored Seth Helmsman that I have ever owned!
