*SETH THOMAS POCKET WATCH 15j ADJUSTED- INVISABLE HINGE 3oz. SILVER CASE Patent Nov. 8, 1883. This rare Seth Thomas was produced in 1886, the second year of production. Seth Thomas produced pocket watches from 1885 - 1914. This watch features a very rare original invisible hinge patented and named: "Invisible Joint Case Co." When closed, this case appears to be a screw off back. 15j and "Adjusted" is considered a high grade by Seth Thomas. Mint, running and very collectible. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
DIAL: Eighteen size, open face (winds at 12 o'clock), single sunken with a pin stripe separating the center section. The figures are Roman and the signature is "SETH THOMAS". This is an original mint porcelain scarce dial.
MOVEMENT: Eighteen size, open face (winds at 12 o'clock), lever set, 15 sapphire screw down jewel settings, signed "Adjusted" (marked under the balance wheel), "Seth Thomas/Thomaston, Conn.", #12,164. This movement is mint running and original to the case.
CASE: Super thick beveled original crystal dominates this rare coin silver open face case. This case looks like a screw off back, but is really a hinged back. The patented for this design is "Invisible Joint Case" in 1883 (please view case mark in image provided). This case is all original to the watch is in mint condition.
