VERY RARE SETH THOMAS REGULATOR CLOCK SECONDS HAND 86W
FROM EARLY 1900'S ... VERY RARE SETH THOMAS REGULATOR CLOCK IN MAHOGANY.....HAS SECONDS BIT AND DAY-OF-THE-WEEK DIAL !!!..PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE PICS...I HAVE STUDIED THIS MOVEMENT AND HAVE CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS A SCHOOLHOUSE OR WORKPLACE CLOCK...THE BAKELITE WHEEL THAT THE DAY OF THE WEEK DIAL IS CONNECTED TO HAS 14 PINS...THEY CORRESPOND WITH 14 X 12-HR PERIODS IN A WEEK .... THE HAND THAT ACTUATES THIS COMES AROUND EVERY 12 HOURS AND CHANGES THE DAY OF THE WEEK DIAL TO AM/PM SETTING...ON THE EDGE OF THE BAKELITE, ARE 5 RAISED KNOBS THAT ACTUATE THE MERCURY SWITCH....I FEEL THIS CORRESPONDS TO MONDAY-THRU-FRIDAY...T ARE NO KNOBS IN THE NEXT AREA(SAT-SUN)....THEN STARTS OVER AGAIN....THE LARGE DRUM ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MOVEMENT IS HOOKED VIA A BEVEL GEAR TO THE TIME SHAFT AND ROTATES...THE MYSTERY FOR ME IS WHAT FUNCTION THIS DOES? I THINK T ARE SOME PARTS MISSING THAT ARE RELATED TO THIS DRUM...ANY IDEAS MORE THAN WELCOME....I THINK THE ELECTRICAL PART OF THIS WAS CONNECTED TO A BELL OR SLAVE CLOCK SYSTEM. ANYWAY THIS CLOCK RUNS REAL GOOD AND KEEPS GOOD TIME...IT IS IDENTICAL IN DIMENSIONS TO THE SETH THOMAS OFFICE #9 CLOCK..IT IS 31" TALL AND 15-1/2" WIDE AND 5-1/2" DEEP AND IN MAHOGANY...CASE VERY GOOD CONDITION..NICE LOOKING CLOCK FOR YOU TO CHERISH..THE MOVEMENT IS MARKED 86W , WHICH IS LISTED AS 30-DAY IN ST BOOK,BUT IT WILL ONLY RUN FOR 10-11 DAYS...MAYBE NEEDS CLEANING OR NEW SPRINGS? I HAVE LISTED THIS CLOCK BEFORE AND VOWED I WOULD NEVER LIST IT AGAIN, BUT IT IS....SAFE SHIPPING TO LOWER 48 WILL RUN AROUND $75...AS IT IS VERY HEAVY...THANKS
