This is a vintage, electric, SETH THOMAS Ships Wheel clock called the "CAPSTAN". Model # E006-004, this model was produced around 1939. The wood body of this clock is solid mahogany, beautifully accented with brass wheel handles, brass trim ring and an etched brass colored face with a great nautical look.I have disassembled the clock, stripped and refinished the wooden case, cleaned and lubricated the clocks mechanism and reassembled it. The polished brass handles and bezel ring shine brightly against the rich, red mahogany. The nicely shaped body, make this clock look great from any angle. All brass parts were polished and coated with clear lacquer to keep it shining and protected from tarnishing. The wood body has several coats of clear satin lacquer, giving it a beautiful glow. The clock runs quite and keeps excellent time. It has a sweep second hand and the red power interruption indicator works. The cord is in good condition with no cracks or breaks. The glass crystal is clear, clean and free of scratches. This vintage clock is a great nautical theme display piece that is fully functional as well.
