MUSEUM-QUALITY EMPIRE-PERIOD SEVRES or OLD PARIS PORCELAIN CUP & SAUCER featuring neoclassical gilding against rich cobalt ground color. Cup & saucer feature cartouches decorated with superbly rendered floral species growing from dirt mounds. Cup/saucer are created in 1820 or slightly earlier. CUP features highly burnished gilding nearly to the bottom of well. Bottom of cup's well features gilded dot surrounded by a gilded ring. Cup features a high-rising scrolled handle that immerge from matt-gilt leaf at waist of cup and concludes into a matt-gilt Medusa medallion at the top of cup's highly burnished gilt and flared rim. Cup also features highly burnished gilt flared pedestal. Waist of cup features a deep cobalt ground color that is decorated with neoclassical gilt scrolling. Waist of cup features 4 cartouches that highlight four different and superbly painted floral species. SAUCER features highly burnished gilt rim. Saucer is decorated with a deeply rich cobalt ground color that is highlighted with Empire-style neoclassical gilt scrolling. Saucer features six cartouche-panels that frame six different hand-painted floral species, all masterfully articulated with richly detailed nuances. Each floral species immerge from dirt mounds. CONDITION: CUP AND SAUCER ARE IN FLAWLESS CONDITION. NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS, NO LOSS OF PAINT, NO LOSS OF GILDING, NO CRAZING, NO HAIRLINES. MARKINGS: both cup and saucer feature a hand-impressed marking at bottom. Cup's impression marking is "8". Saucer features impressed "M". DIMENSIONS: Cup stands at 3.75 inches in height, from top of handle to base. Cup is 2.75 inches in diameter. Saucer is 4.75 inches in diameter.
