A fine running Mid PFM run of this large Santa Fe Northern. The modeled after the prototype with roller bearing rods and extended stack is powered with a open frame motor and no backhead. Ten of the 3776 class of steam engines were delivered from Baldwin during the summer of 1941 when they soon found themselves pressed in heavy wartime usage as roster numbers Nos. 3776-3785. Roster number 3777 had builder’s plate number 62466. While they were the longest of the Northerns on the ATSF measuring over 121 feet, they were not the heaviest as they weighed 281,900 lbs (the 3765 and 2900 class both weighed more). This class was powered with massive oil tenders that carried 24,500 gallons of water and 7,000 gallons of oil and featured smoke stack lifters on the smoke stack. These engines were powered with 300 PSI of superheated steam and could develop a tractive effort of 79,968 lbs. They were supported on 8 massive 80 inch drivers. Roster number 3777 was scrapped in 1959. The model shows little wear as it is 50 years old.
