Rare S.F. Cody’s 1912 Austro-Daimler Aero engine catalogue Samuel Franklin Cody was the first person to officially make a powered aeroplane flight in the United Kingdom. His aviation accomplishments during that Pioneer Era set many world’s aviation records and won many prizes, competitions and awards. This catalogue is guaranteed by me, to have come from his estate. It had been mailed to him, by Austro Daimler Motor Company Ltd, of London, in late 1912, and the catalogue mentions, in the text, that one of the Austro-Daimler engines described and shown in this catalogue was used by Cody to win The 1912 British military Reliability Trials, competing against 24 other aeroplanes from International manufacturers. This 14 page, 9 x 11.5 inch (23.29.5 cm) is fully illustrated with numerous photos and detail images and specifications, price, performance, novel features of each of FOUR different models of the Austro Daimler aero engines of 40hp, 65hp, 90hp, and 120 hp engines. T is a full page for records set and Competitions won, and also a thorough listing of Tools and spares supplied, Terms of doing business. The photos are extremely sharp and show fine details of each engine, including some of major parts. (T are more quality photos than are shown )Cover shows light age-toning/slght soiling around outer edges, while content pages are clean, with no markings, and free of creases and not dog-eared etc. Autro Daimler Engines were also used in Etrich Taube, Lohner, Deperdussin, Wright, Bleriot, Albatros, Harlan, Euler, Grahame White, and Sopwith aeroplanes of the day, and used by the War Offices and Admiralties of Britain, Prussia, Austria, Bavaria, Russia, Italy, and Germany. They continued to be developed and used during WWI, and influenced the design of other aero engines of the WWI period. This is a very RARE and important Original Brochure/Catalogue with direct link to a very important figure in British, and World aviation history. T is some color printing and fine photos. The photos , show parts of pages in the catalogue. This item can be sent to U.K. or Europe for $7 via First Class International Mail UNINSURED. That is the way most of my bidders/buyers prefer shipping. I have never had a loss with 100 percent feedback rating and usually mentioning of my careful packing. *NON-U.S. bidders should ONLY bid , if they are willing to have the item shipped this way (Uninsured) or wait for a very much higher shipping quote for International Priority Mail, which STILL will not insure a “printed item” they tell me.
