This auction is for a moving oil painting on canvas by the listed artist Pinhas Shaar/Schaar.(b.1923-1996) The painting depicts a portrait of a simple man (barbarian) who's music box produces such beautiful delicate tunes, that even the most musical creatures, the birds, are totally attracted to him. Thick paint application creating texture in areas of choice. This specific painting is signed LL P. Schaar and verso- signed, titled and dated 1954- likely while still in Paris Condition is VERY good! Deserves a better frame. Measurements- About 24x41" framed. Frame totals 3" wide. About the artist : b. 1923, Poland. Immigrated 1956. Studies: Art Academy, Munich; Beaux Arts, Paris; Grande Chaumiere, Paris. Known for his illustrations to Israeli Hebrew literature.
