THIS ITEM: cottage distressed-paint dining or breakfast table, in the American Victorian fashion of the 1890s, featuring large claw foot legs around a wide turned column base, and a large circular top with incised "tortoise" pattern, in our classic heirloom distressed chic-shabby lacquered paint job. A tortoise top is so called for the incised decoration on the top, which divides the space into a geometric pattern of panels, similar to the design on a turtle's shell. Models such as this do NOT extend or have any leaves to enlarge them. It's just one large solid round top. The claws are super on this one, of the eagle-talon ball&claw type (as opposed to the lion's paw) with 3 webbed toes, very impressive looking. Although most of our items are authentic vintage or antiques, and this is a Victorian style, this particular model is a modern-issue reproduction, and whether old or new, a very rare item to find with the solid pattern top. Great for use with the cottage decor, we offer tables like these custom-painted to your pick of color through our ebay store. For this listing, however, YOU ARE BUYING THE TABLE SHOWN BELOW, AS PICTURED, already completed in super shabby heirloom antique ivory white. This is a display piece commissioned by a dealer for a new restaurant that unfortunately never got off the ground. The poor thing has been cramped in storage for months, awaiting the opening that would never happen, and needs a new home! It's a large and substantial model, extremely sturdy, with an understated elegance and impossible to ignore presence in a room. Will match well with almost any style of chair. Really interesting piece! Look carefully at our close-ups below. You are buying from the best!! With every one of our tables we strive to achieve that formal and elegant feel tempered with that old heir of comfortable whimsy. Our painted pieces are sleeker and softer than the clumsy, goopy latex-painted items the other shabby artisans are selling on ebay. At over 4-feet wide, you've got TONS of surface area to seat even a large family at your PROFESSIONALLY finished cottage table. Custom-painted and distressed by hand, using the best professional oil-based lacquer techniques, our paint jobs are the best to be found anyw on line, with a more subtle and finer hand than what our competition offers. Our pieces are far more durable, and more true to the flavor of the era. Detail is not lost to poor quality materials, as our paint is thinly and more evenly applied, completely retaining all shapes and even the tiniest little imperfections that give the piece character. You will see woodgrain through our paint, the same as you would with a table that was actually painted in 1890. Our competition cannot make this claim. W other dealers merely scratch the corners, our pieces are realistically and subtly worn all over, on every visible surface! They stand out among the rest! Other dealers try to copy our work and our techniques and presentation with no success and much higher prices. Don't be jipped by the copy-cats! Nobody else can do what we do. Please read below for more info on our custom finishing. Other tables, as well as other dining furniture and cottage-chic items available in our ebay store. ABOUT OUR COTTAGE CRAFTSMANSHIP: Items are finished in our own professional distressed paint, hand-rubbed, and sealed with a professional varnish coat for protection and durability. ** ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTE! ** This is not do-it-yourselfer paint, but rather a professional quality oil-based finish. Our competition slaps on the cheapest housepaint they can find and simply scuffs or actually scrapes off the edges of the wood, leaving it damaged and open to the elements, not to mention unrealistic. Our pieces are gently rubbed through to the old finish underneath on all surfaces, not just the corners, but flat surfaces as well, and completely sealed with multiple coats of old-fashioned varnish agai...
