It was coincidental that both Martzes made ceramics in Indiana in the second half of the1900s. Gordon Martz and Jane Marshall met as students at the NY State College of Ceramics in Alfred, NY. In 1951, they joined the Marshall Studios in Veedersburg, Indiana, which was founded by Jane's grandmother Jesse in 1922. In 1951 it was run by Marhsall familiy including Jane's father Nicholas and her mother Grace. The originally product line was lampshades and woodwork. read more
