This three-sailed rendition of the American- built Shamrock racing yacht is one of the finest quality models we've offered to date. It is meticulously assembled by a single artisan by joining each individual mahogany plank to a wood frame. IT IS NOT A KIT AND NOT MADE FROM A KIT. This model contains hundreds of design details including masterfully stitched sails that hold their shape, solid brass fixtures, planked wood hull with nail holes and a solid mahogany wood stand. Unlike other lesser quality models found on eBay, this rendition of the Shamrock has been designed and built with quality and detail in mind - items like its contoured boom, not just a round dowel - put this model in a class of its own. BE SURE TO . The world class woods used to build this model are subjected to seasoning procedures to ensure they will withstand any climate, preventing them from warping or splitting. The construction is performed entirely by hand and takes hundreds of man-hours to complete. This exquisite piece of art is brand new and in perfect condition. A base for display is included. HistoryCommissioned by Sir Thomas Lipton (of Lipton Tea fame), Shamrock was built in 1930 to compete in the America 's Cup. Her mast reaches nearly 160 feet toward the sky. She never won the Cup but remains a rare and impressive sight when sailing along the eastern seaboard today.The Shamrock has been refitted and is sailing worldwide for races and charter.
