This beautiful Sharp TR-173 or commonly known in Holland as the "Collie" transistor radio is up for auction. This radio is from 1958 and uses 6 transistors and works as good as new. Great volume, sensitivity and selectivity is yours on this beautiful AM set. It runs on 4 AA batteries that are not included, and it does not come with a leather case. The condition of this radio is remarkable considering it was from 1958. It obviously was taken care of and saw limited use. The front design on the radio is stunning and is one of the more attractive horizontal designs from Sharp. The reverse paint effect surrounding the fluted metal grill is wonderful and the tuning dial has lots of details in a small area. The label inside the back panel is in good shape with some browning on the bottom, but overall it is in good shape showing the serial #80748. The radio is a classic example of quality Japanese transistor radios. The cosmetics are excellent and the working condition is just as good. You cannot go wrong with this radio for your transistor collection. The "collie" is a rare one, for you do not see them that often, but when you have one that is in excellent condition, then it is worth bidding on. If you do then good luck to all.
