Shave Ready Straight Razor antique, one quarter hollow grind. Columbia cutlery co. Worcester, Massachusetts USA. Very nice razor about 1895-1905. Nice heavier razor with a fine carbon steel most likely Sheffield steel. The blade has some very light pitting but the overall appearance is bright and clean. THE RAZOR WILL EASILY PASS THE HANGING HAIR TEST If you are new to Straight razor shaving or you are not proficient at sharpening and honing, buy shave ready. A lot of first time shavers are put off by trying to shave with a razor that is not truly sharp. All the razors I sell are shave ready. I have set a first bevel honed, stropped and sterilized it for immediate use . It has taken a really fine edge and will pass the hanging hair test anywhere along the cutting edge. This is an excellent razor for beginners or experienced shavers. No high speed machines were used in the preparation of my razors as it generates heat and can affect the temper of the blade. Once properly sharpened it is reasonably easy to keep a razor that way but you will need a strop. All razors of this type need stropping after every shave.
