For auction a Shaw/Nodderoriginal hand colored copper plate engraving with the occasional Whatman watermarkor date, from "The Naturalists Miscellany" by George Shaw, published by Frederick P. Nodder. I am selling my collection of Shaw/Nodder prints to make room for other art. I have enjoyed having these beautiful prints, but now it's time to pass them on to someone else who will appreciate them as I have. I will be listing more over the next few weeks. This print is of the Redstart, Plate # 192 and you will also receive the original text in English and Latin and a photocopy of the title page. These are some of the most curiously whimsical and humorous collection of prints ever published. Dedicated to the Most Illustrious Princess, Charlotte, Queen of Great Britian, it contains works of such beauty and originality that it is beloved by all who see it. The Naturalists Miscellany contains 1063 hand colored prints, almost all being natural history subjects. The condition of the prints are excellent on the whole, much better than is usually found in this publication, which was often much thumbed due to its popularity. On a few, the paper may be slightly toned and offset, with an occasional fox mark. Each print measures approximately 5 7/8 inches by 9 3/8 inches.
