SHEAFFER OVERSIZE TRIUMPH 1940s, 14k TRIM!--RESTORED LARGEST SIZE, '2000' CODE, WIDE BAND, MEDIUM POINT I am a Trading Assistant - I can sell your stuff on eBay! The big cigar-shaped Sheaffer Lifetime Triumph Balance in black celluloid with solid 14k gold trim. These Autograph models were advertised to be engraved with a facsimile of the owner's signature, so it's somewhat hard to find one like this that has the 14k band unengraved. Correct '2000' price code, for its $20 original retail price. This is the big pen, the largest Sheaffer made at the time, bigger even that the solid gold cap version or the all gold pen at the extreme high end of the line. Excellent condition with bright glossy plastic, good imprint, some minor nicks and scratches. The lines on the blind cap are pretty much gone. The big two-tone Triumph nib is a rare medium point, and makes a wet line. The piston-operated vacuum filler has been restored by Ron Zorn of Main Street Pens. It is working beautifully with lots of suction. This restoration is a $45 value and is already taken care of, so the pen is working and ready to use and enjoy! These piston filling Sheaffers are a pleasure to use. They represent Sheaffer's excellent solution to the problem of filling a pen on the downstroke, the opposite of a syringe, so that after filling, the back of the pen could come to rest in its proper position. You pull the blind cap back, dip the pen in ink, then push the blind cap forward. When the piston reaches the end of its run, the vacuum that has built up in the barrel is released, sucking up the ink. You can watch the ink flowing into the pen. Ron Zorn has assembled the best materials and has adopted the best repair techniques for restoring these pens to proper function, so that you can enjoy them as much as the original buyers did back in the '40s.
